I had a demo of the latest eView Chat client from Espre Solutions yesterday. It’s a pretty cool video software video client that uses a proprietary codec for communicating between other eView Chat clients but can also connect with H.323 systems from the likes of Polycom and Tandberg. What’s nice about the proprietary protocol is that it can go through most firewalls without any policy changes. (It worked here at the NW World Headquarters without a problem.) If you switch to H.323 mode though, you can run into more firewall problems. On its own eView Chat has very good video quality and can support multi-point calls with up to eight participants, depending on your bandwidth. The company is pricing it as a $99/mos all you can eat offering.
