Floating on a river of numbness
Cold and without end
Dragged under then spit back up
I can’t fight this anymore
All I’ve done is try to stay afloat
Thrashing around has proved pointless
Now I will just lay here until I sink
The bottom will provide adequate darkness
Icy water fills my lungs
Convulsing hard one final time
Nothing I gave mattered
You laid down to die and so I join you too.
